Time Commitment 8 hours per week
Required Cohort Meeting Mondays, 1:00-3:00 PM on the GCU campus; classroom location TBA
Additional Weekly Service Approximately 6 hours per week with an assigned local church and/or group community outreach project

POSITION SUMMARY

The Ministry & Outreach Internship is a paid, hands-on learning and service opportunity for Grand Canyon University students. Interns participate in a weekly cohort learning experience and serve with an assigned local church while collaborating on a community outreach project. The internship is designed to develop practical ministry and professional skills while supporting EBA churches in church planting, church revitalization, and community engagement.

CORE RESPONSIBILITIES

• Participate in the required Monday cohort learning session from 1:00-3:00 PM on the GCU campus.

• Serve approximately 6 additional hours each week in an assigned church ministry and/or community outreach project. 

• Assist EBA churches with church planting, church revitalization, and community outreach initiatives. 

• Help plan, prepare, promote, and execute ministry and community engagement activities. • Work collaboratively with EBA leaders, church staff, fellow interns, volunteers, and community partners. 

• Complete assigned project deliverables, progress updates, and end-of-semester reflection/presentation requirements. 

• Demonstrate reliability, initiative, teachability, professional communication, and servant leadership.

ADDITIONAL PROJECT OPPORTUNITIES BASED ON EXPERIENCE & INTEREST

• Social media strategy, content creation, digital communication, and basic marketing support. 

• Worship arts/music planning, rehearsal support, worship leadership, or related creative ministry work. 

• Videography, video creation/production, photography, editing, and ministry storytelling.

QUALIFICATIONS

• Current Grand Canyon University student. 

• Interest in ministry, community outreach, church planting, church revitalization, leadership, or nonprofit service. 

• Ability to attend the Monday 1:00-3:00 PM cohort session throughout the internship term. 

• Ability to complete the full 8-hour weekly commitment. 

• Dependable, teachable, collaborative, and able to communicate professionally. 

• Willingness to serve in varied church and community settings. 

• Reliable transportation is strongly preferred because church and outreach assignments may occur off campus. 

• Applicants with experience in social media, worship arts/music, or videography are especially encouraged to apply.

LEARNING & DEVELOPMENT OUTCOMES  

• Develop practical ministry and professional skills through real assignments. 

Gain experience in church planting, revitalization, and community outreach. 

• Strengthen teamwork, communication, leadership, time management, and project execution. 

• Receive mentoring and exposure to experienced ministry leaders.

Applicants will complete the EBA Ministry & Outreach Internship Application and may participate in an interview and placement process. Church and project assignments will be determined by EBA based on ministry needs, applicant strengths, experience, interests, scheduling, and fit.
